The FSQ-85EDX is a Petzval quadruplet apochromatic refractor including ED glass. With a focal length of 450mm and a corrected image circle of 44mm, this refractor is ideal for wide-field astrophotography. It can also be used with the optional 1.01X flat field corrector to make the most of recent sensors with smaller and smaller pixels. As an option, you can also add a focal reducer to transform the telescope into a true high-end 328mm astronomical telephoto lens, with very fast f3.9 focal ratio, and 40mm corrected image circle!

ESATTO: the most advanced and affordable robotic focuser!

This special version of the Takahashi FSQ-85EDX replaces the standard focuser with ESATTO 3", the new generation robotic focuser that you control by any Windows computer by connecting it to a USB port, or via WiFi by using ESATTO app on your smartphone or tablet with the Virtual HandPad! On the camera side, ESATTO has a M81x1 male thread to connect and manually rotate many cameras and accessories by adding the optional adapters with stop rings. ESATTO 3" has 25mm of focuser tube travel, a 8kg payload capacity and an incredible resolution of 0,04 micron per step (and this is why we call it ESATTO)! Based on the camera and accessories you want to connect, you may need extenders to reach the focus with your camera. And you can also expand ESATTO features by adding the ARCO robotic camera rotator!

By removing all the accessories (extensions, visual backs, etc) provided with the Takahashi FSQ-85EDX telescope, optimal backfocus distance is 197.7mm from the focuser's end. If you replace the standard focuser with the PL3600271 adapter and the ESATTO 3" focuser, optimal distance becomes 184.5mm.

Takahashi FSQ-85EDX apochromatic refractor with ESATTO 3": perfect for remotely controlled and automated astrophotography

Thanks to the enhanced versatility provided by the integration of PrimaLuceLab devices with the excellent optical quality of the Takahashi FSQ-85EDX, this astrograph is a superb choice that you can also customize to optimize your astrophotography. For instance, you can add the GIOTTO120 smart flat field generator and use it as a motorized telescope cap in combination with the ALTO-1 cover motor. These can be clamped on the 350mm PLUS Losmandy-style dovetail bar, which you can install above the PLUS support rings. All these devices, along with your preferred camera and mount, can be remotely controlled and powered by the EAGLE computer, which can be directly connected to the PLUS rings.

Takahashi FSQ-85EDX apochromatic refractor with ESATTO 3": add the QB0.73X focal reducer for f/3.9

By adding the QB0.73x focal reducer you can increase even more the field of view, bringing the focal length to 330mm with a very fast focal ratio of f/3.9. The reducer features a new ED glass and creates a very small spot size. In order to use the 0.73x reducer with FSQ-85EDX with ESATTO 3" focuser, first you will have to attach a PrimaLuceLab adapter (based on the thread you have on the telescope side of your reducer) to the ESATTO 3", then thread the reducer. In order to reach focus, you will have to remove any extension between ESATTO 3" and PL3600271 adapter.
